The One Thing You Need to Lose Weight

If you’re anything like me, you feel like you’ve learned everything you possibly could about how to diet and lose weight, and you’ve discovered that none of it works. You’ve counted points, containers, carbs, macros, you’ve done the cleanses and the punishing workouts, you’ve tried the weight loss shakes, pills, and teas. You’ve gotten excited about every new diet guru, every plan, every promise, thrown yourself into the programs for a few weeks only to end up starved, deprived, overwhelmed, and missing real life. Eventually you gave up on each and every plan, and when the dust settled, you probably beat yourself up for having so little willpower and found yourself even heavier than you were when you started.

This is how diets work, friends - they set us up to fail. They convince us that if we could just follow their specific plan we could finally be living the life of our dreams in the body of our dreams. But restriction of any kind Does. Not. Work. It puts our bodies into famine-induced panic, which causes your brain to freak out - spiking the hormones that make you feel hungry and eliminating those that recognize fullness, intensifying the reward response systems that cause you to seek energy (calorie) dense foods, making you feel fatigued, overwhelmed and exhausted. Traditional diets of ANY kind make your body believe that it’s starving, causing it to do whatever it can to get you to EAT MORE. This is why the vast majority of people who diet end up even heavier than they were before they ever started. Your body is extremely resistant to being deprived of food….as it should be. Food is the thing that, you know, keeps you alive….it’s pretty important to your body.

In order to lose weight, my clients eat. ALL FOODS. We don’t eliminate foods, we don’t measure, we don’t count. If your body is sending up a hunger signal, it’s because it needs food - so we feed it. It’s as easy as that.

Where does the weight loss come in?

Instead of listening to the diet gurus and “wellness” experts, you learn to listen to YOURSELF. Your body knows when it’s hungry and when it’s had enough food, but a lifetime of eating according to the clock, of being a member of the “clean plate club”, of binge/restrict cycles, and of eating to numb emotion have gotten us completely out of touch with our own intuition about when and what to eat, and how to stop when we’ve had enough.

In as little as one session, I can get you back on track toward eating foods you love (that nourish your body as much as your taste buds) and listening to your own inherent hunger and satisfaction signals so that you can begin to lose weight without any deprivation or restriction at all.
